Top Products for Parents at CES 2012

Parents think computers are cool too

Just because you’re a parent doesn’t mean you’re out of touch. (Well, maybe a little.) With all the new gadgets and technology that are now designed specifically for moms and dads, you can be the most connected, tech-savvy one on the playground. Here are some of the best products for parents that debuted at CES 2012. They’re so cool your kids might be jealous.

Samsung Wi-Fi Video Baby Monitor

Keep a close eye on your sleeping tot from anywhere with this WiFi monitor, which automatically connects to your home network and then sends video footage to your smartphone, tablet, or other device. The camera has LED lights that allow it to capture video in the dark, and a microphone and speakers enable two-way talking. It’ll even upload the videos instantly to YouTube, so you can show off what a good sleeper your baby is.

Withings Smart Baby Scale

Withings Smart Baby Scale

Tracking your kid’s height on the wall is so last year. Growth monitoring just got way more techy with this Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ready smart baby scale, which can be used for babies and toddlers up to 55 lbs. The scale streams readings to any smartphone, computer, or connected device. It can also programmed to send updates to Facebook and Twitter, or to email the pediatrician.

Origami stroller

Lead the pack with the Origami stroller

This 4moms Origami stroller was really on a roll at CES, even earning a nomination for the Last Gadget Standing competition. Maybe that’s because it folds and unfolds at the touch of a button or has headlights to illuminate your path. Or maybe because its built-in generator also powers an LCD screen and charges your cell phone. This isn’t your grandmother’s baby carriage.

Scoshe CellControl

CellControl says TTYL to texting while driving

This device from Scoshe helps make driving safer by restricting your teen’s phone use when behind the wheel. It just plugs into the OBD-11 port (in every car made after 1996) and transmits the vehicle’s speed (via Bluetooth connection) to your child’s smartphone, disabling the screen when the car is moving. The CellControl also claims to be tamper resistant and will email parents if the device is disabled.
