Just a few short years ago, bottom freezer refrigerators were considered the new upgrade. They came in swing door and even “french door” models, the latter offering easier access to your fresh foods and smaller, lighter doors that didn’t require nearly as much space in a tight kitchen to swing the doors open and get at the food that you store in the crisper drawers.
THEN came the huge leap in technology, dubbed the “Ice2O”by Maytag, which for the first time added a through the door ice and water dispenser. This was the answer for the customers who wanted the convenience and storage space of a french door (Hey, the freezer section in a side-by-side’s tough to get a turkey into!), but couldn’t bear not having a dispenser with chilled, filtered water at the ready. The Ice2O was a very big deal, even being very long on storage space and adding adaptive defrost for better food preservation and energysavings. They later expanded the line to add a 33” wide model (3” narrower than the original) to fit into more kitchens.
Now, Maytag has introduced the new MFX2571XEM as the latest offering in the Ice2O family. What’s new and different? Well, for starters, they’ve added another drawer. The extra drawer in this case is set aside for cool storage and easy access. It’s big enough to hold up to 5 bags of groceries, and has adjustable dividers (fill it with oranges or apples, if you’d like, and use the dividers to keep them from rolling around as you empty the drawer). This drawer is at a height that’s easy to access for almost anyone, and won’t look out of place with the cabinet and countertop lines in your kitchen. The glass floor of the refrigerator section allows visibility into this drawer, so you don’t have to open it to check stock or see what’s in it (check that apple supply while you’re getting a glass of milk!).
The bottom drawer is a freezer compartment, large enough to hold an average turkey, and much, much, more. The ice and chilled, filtered water dispenser in the refrigerator door saves space in the freezer after all. And while we’re talking dispenser, check out the cool interactive LCD touch screen that can provide nutrition information and food storage tips.
While not the first 4-door refrigerator on the market (Samsung, GE, and LG all have models that have been around for a year or more), the new Maytag is the most energy efficient 4-door on the market. This big Energy Star rated refrigerator uses less energy than the average 60 watt light bulb.
And, all of this great stuff comes to you from Maytag, a brand so confident in their product quality, that they back this refrigerator with a 10-year limited warranty on the compressor. Available in black, white, and stainless steel, this great new refrigerator is the latest addition to the Vann’s lineup.
But don’t take my word for it. You should see it for yourself, I think you’ll be impressed.
