Can’t get in front of a flat screen TV this Sunday? Don’t panic, because for the first time ever, football fans will be able to stream the Big Game live to their smartphones, tablets, or computers. In addition to the game, online streaming will give you access to interactive content, commercials on demand, live stats, in-game highlights, and extra camera angles — all at NFL.com and NBCSports.com.
The NFL expects that while a number of viewers of the live stream may be fans who can’t make it to a flat screen TV, many of them will be people who want an additional viewing experience to complement the regular broadcast. With content available exclusively online via NBC’s Sunday Night Football Extra user interface, the NFL is is catering to viewers who will be using a second device while the TV is on. According to Rick Cordella, vice president of NBC Sports Digital Media, that includes 50 percent of viewers.
If you’ll be on the road this Sunday and want to take the Big Game with you, check out some of Vann’s tablets and laptops, which will allow you portable to access live streaming. If you’ll be home watching on the TV, do you think you’ll check out the extra online features?
