If you’re one of the 125 million registered Pandora users, then this will be music to your ears. At CES 2012, Pandora announced new partnerships with several automotive companies, including Acura and Kia. They will be releasing new models this year that feature Pandora radio in their stereo systems.
Although several other digital music streaming services, including MOG and Spotify, have been gaining popularity recently, Pandora still has the most users, and they’re looking to expand that base. They are now partnered with 23 automotive companies in total, as well as the satellite TV provider Dish Network. “The car is one of the most popular venues for radio listening,” said Pandora’s EVP of business and corporate development, Jessica Steel. “Incorporating Pandora into the native environment of automobile dashboards makes listening to personalized radio as easy and natural as listening to traditional radio.”
Unless you prefer your Pandora in the kitchen. In that case, you might be a good candidate for Samsung’s internet-enabled fridge, also unveiled at CES 2012, which comes with an included Pandora app. So if you need a little musical inspiration while cooking dinner, turn on your favorite Pandora station and play some tunes right through the refrigerator’s embedded speakers.
