If you’re a long time fan of the site, you may have noticed that the inventory situation here at Vanns.com has been… in the slow lane.
But Vanns.com is about to make a hard U-Turn and step on the gas. Our new owners have a firm grip on the wheel, and are making all the right moves to get our inventory flow back into the fast lane.
Our new owners aren’t only interested in replacing what’s gone either. We’re starting to branch out into new areas of merchandise as well. Without leaving the core of our business, we are going to find new avenues to explore, while making sure we keep up with the latest from the companies that we’ve always dealt with. Here are a couple of new things to look for in the near future, one from an old friend and another an entirely new product to us.
GoPro turned outdoor adventure on its ear with the release of the Hero camera series. Motosports, surfing and all your outdoor activities became easy to record, and easy to transfer to the web. GoPro changed the way we communicated about our weekends activities.
The new Hero3 doesn’t just raise the bar for cameras, it holds it above its head and defies all to challenge. The Black Edition provides cinema quality video with 2X the resolutions and 2X the frame rate of previous models. Hello, slo-mo action! Its 25% lighter and 30% smaller than its predecessor, and has a 6-element aspherical lens that increases sharpness while decreasing distortion. The Continuous Photo setting takes continuous stills at a steady 3, 5 or 10 photo-per-second rate, up to 30 photos at a time.
But the biggest addition is the wi-fi. The Hero3 comes with a wi-fi remote that lets you control up to 50 GoPros at a time. Or download the app and sync it to your smartphone, so you can get the perfect view for your camera. Then, immediately and easily see what you just did, and upload that awesomeness to Facebook so all your buddies know you just skied Corbet’s Couloir, and don’t they wish they were in Jackson Hole. All from the Hero3 and your smartphone.
The Hero3 Black Edition, re-defining how we view our outdoor adventures once again.
Goal Zero Solar Rechargers
When you live in Montana, the Goal Zero products are really a no-brainer, and we’re fired up to be bringing them to Vann’s. Just about everybody hikes, rafts, backpacks or camps, and the ability to get solar power for your electronics is something that makes camping that much better.
The Sherpa 50 is a portable solar recharging kit that won the Consumer Electronics Show’s innovation award. While it won’t be available till late December at the earliest, it is a campers dream. Weighing only two pounds, the solar panel and portable recharger is capable of re-charging your laptop. Or your Hero3. Or letting you preview your Hero3 on a big screen in the woods… well you get the idea. Now you have the power to keep everything from your iPod to your laptop running in the middle of nowhere, just where you planned to be. More than pretty cool.
Montana also has it’s share of weather, some of it pretty cold. In a big, spread out state, when the power goes out, it can take a little time to get it back. Which is where the Goal Zero Yeti comes in. Keep it powered by plugging it into a wall outlet, and you have a gas-less generator that can be recharged from the sun. So you can keep the fridge running, and the furnace humming, making a power outage seem like a picnic. And if you choose to do a little off-grid action, the Yeti has the energy to keep your power tools cranking for quite some time.
Goal Zero gets it. When you’re away from the power source, you need to bring the power with you. We can’t wait for these products to get to our (digital) shelves.
