While the Vann’s writers may have had some tasty ideas on what to serve up while you watch the big game, prying delicious entrees from them was tougher than converting on a fourth down.
But, just to show our playbook isn’t completely bare, I’ve scoured the internet to bring you some of the tastiest entrees this side of wherever the Superbowl is being held for your half-time enjoyment.
So, sit back, and join me in finding out what makes the tastiest slider, the most scrumptious chili, and a mouth-watering soup.
What makes the perfect slider? It’s a question that has mystified man for ages, and the answer may surprise you. J. Kenji Lopez-Alt takes on the question over at Seriouseats.com. You can jump straight to the recipe here, but if you’re a fellow food geek, check out his exploration and explanation here.
Chanting for Chili
Chili is one of those game time mainstays for a reason — it’s a great set and forget recipe. Why wait until halftime to serve it though? Two reasons: things can get messy if there’s a spill during the excitement, and do you honestly want to be trapped in a room in front of a flat screen TV with a bunch of people who downed a bowl of spicy beans two hours earlier?
I didn’t think so.
Over at cooklikeyourgrandmother.com (hopefully like his grandmother… may she rest in peace, but the stories told about my grandmother’s cooking would make your stomach spin), Drew has a few ideas on an easy and delicious chili.
I know, I know. Healthy eating is probably the last thing on your mind while the halftime show lights up your flat screen TV.
Just in case you’re watching your waistline after the holidays, though, the Boston Globe has a great set of options for the calorie conscious. Each idea is accompanied by a picture, so browsing this just gallery just before lunch may be a bad idea.
