I, being an Apple owner, run into the random problems of connecting my Apple devices to other devices not Apple. That being said, all of my home theater equipment is DLNA compliant for streaming content from a PC computer/server or some other DLNA compliant device. Since the majority of my music, photos and videos reside on my laptop I wanted a way to wirelessly stream that content to my Internet enabled equipment. After scouring the Internet forums I came across a product called Eyeconnect. This simple download allowed both my TV and AV receiver to recognize my Mac and allowed me to wireless stream both my iTunes and iPhoto applications seamlessly.
Eyeconnect is simply a software solution that enables the UPnP standard. UPnP, which stands for Universal Plug and Play, allows all of my devices to recognize and share content universally without discrimination. Now anywhere my laptop is in my house I can access the music, photos or videos in any room that has an internet capable product either plugged in via Ethernet or hanging on my wireless network.
This service is free for 30 days after which you have to buy the software for $49.95. However, should you not buy the software after the 30 days you can still stream your music free just no video or photos. All in all, I am more of a music lover then online video connoisseur therefore the free application was just what I was looking for!
