This time, it’s in the form of a prototype Smart Window from Samsung.
While you might be satisfied with your current window’s performance, the smart window is a clear LCD panel (think your flat screen TV) that gives you access to internet apps, making sure that when you’re gazing out the window you not only know if it’s raining right in front of your nose, but also if it’s raining in the next town over (or the next town over the ocean) and any other place you want just by checking a weather app. Wondering what the neighbors are doing? Check their Facebook status, or see their latest tweet while you peer outside. The smart window even has digital shades you can pull over just in case you feel the need for a little privacy of your own.
While the Smart Window isn’t going to be coming on the market anytime soon, it does make you wonder how long before every flat surface in your home will be connected. Personally, I can’t wait for the dresser that makes clothes recommendations based on what’s in it and the weather.
For now, you can just check out the flat screen TVs Vann’s is offering and dream about what it would be like to see out the other side.
Check back daily! We’ll be covering the CES conference before, during, and after to give you the preview of the next superstars in consumer electronics.
