CES 2012 Tablet Preview
Last year, the Consumer Electronics Show ushered in tons of tablets, including the Motorola Xoom and Toshiba Thrive. We’re expecting 2012 CES to be another whirlwind year of tablets with an array of models that boast faster speeds, smaller sizes, and more powerful operating systems. While Apple’s iPad remains the most popular tablet on the market, we think some serious competitors will be emerging at Vegas CES. If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on a new tablet, this is the time to do it (that is, if you can choose just one).
Lately the trend in the tablet world has been moving toward smaller and more portable, such as the 7” Samsung Galaxy Tab. At CES Show 2012 we anticipate seeing more tablets like this, as well as 5” phone/ tablet hybrids like the Samsung Galaxy Note. These ultra-portable touchscreen tablets have all the capabilities of a smartphone, allowing users even more functionality from one device.
Faster, more powerful tablets will also be hitting the Vegas CES scene. Acer recently released the Transformer Prime, which boasts an impressive Tegra 3 quad core processor, and it’s expected that other quad core CPUs, which are basically as powerful as laptops, will be on the rise.
We also expect to see more tablets supporting new platforms, including Windows 8, likely to be released in the next few months, and Adroid 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). In fact, most of the new tablets at the Consumer Electronics Show 2012 will probably be running Ice Cream Sandwich. We’re looking forward to taking a bite.
