After taking the time to consider what movies should be redone in 3D, I realized that I might have accidentally started a trend where movie makers think that they can make any old movie 3D to squeeze a few more bucks out of it. However, this isn’t the case and such actions could prove tragic. To prove my point, here’s 5 movies that should NEVER be redone using 3D technology:
1. GARFIELD THE MOVIE
This is probably the worst movie of all time. If it got remade, it would trick some people who don’t know any better into watching it, and I wouldn’t wish that fate on anyone.
For those of you who don’t remember this movie, it’s the one where John Travolta (the good guy) and Nick Cage (the bad guy) get their faces switched and Nick tries to screw everything up for ol’ Danny Zuko. That’s pretty awesome, I know, but it’s also 138 minutes long and that much time in 3D is long enough to ruin your coorditation for a day and accentuate the paper-thin plot line.
3. ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW
Between singing transvestites and igor doing the time warp, this movie is already disturbing enough as it is. It doesn’t need to get any more real for me.
4. A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN
Now I’m not saying this movie isn’t great, it’s a heartwarming and and empowering tale of a women’s baseball league that formed during World War II. However, they got Rosie O’Donnell playing 3rd and nobody needs to see that girl running around in 3D.
5. GONE WITH THE WIND
This movie is sooooo slow, and sooooo long, sooooo boring, and sooooo black and white that making it 3D would probably kill me. Also, some would say that it would be blasphemy to change a classic like that, but frankly, my dear, I don’t give a Vann’s.
